An August Trip to BHI

Charlie and Maddie are truly having the time of their lives this summer. With a trip to Florida to visit Gammaw and PawPaw, a week at Bald Head Island in June, numerous swim outings to their beloved pool, swim lessons, and play-dates with buddies, these two sweeties are truly living their best lives. We were lucky enough to be able to plan another week on Bald Head Island last week with Tim's parents before summer ends and school starts back up. It was truly wonderful.

Having a 2 year-old and a 3-year old this summer has been a whole new world for this little fam; The past few years we have had a tiny baby to tend to and have not been as mobile and able to do things as a family. This summer really has been an amazing experience and a turning point for us.

During our most recent to BHI, Charlie was SO determined to climb Old Baldy- the gorgeous lighthouse on the island. He really blew me away with his determination and confidence. Not only did he achieve his goal, but as we were climbing the steps, he reminded me that he was doing this "all by himself" and that he did not need a helping hand. Mr. Independent! And....he did it! We are so proud of our big boy- he set his sights on a goal and was determined to make it happen.

 Here we go!!!

This is a lot of steps.....

108 steps to be exact!

He did it! So proud of this big kid. The view from the top is simply incredible!

One of our favorite things to do on BHI is go to the pool at the Bald Head Island Club. The kiddie pool area is awesome- there is endless fun to be had on the slides and with the cool water spray features. This is a place where the kiddos can run free and truly be kids. Watching them go down the slides together was the best; They love FUN and they love each other.

The beaches on Bald Head are some of the most gorgeous I have ever seen. We spent some time playing at the shore's edge. Charlie tried out boogie boarding in the shallow areas with the help of Tim and Pop and he loved it. Maddie prefers to play with her sand toys and both kiddos showed an interest in searching for shells. It was definitely a treat to get to hang beside the ocean in such a beautiful place.

A few of the nights, we went to the harbor or river to see the sun setting over the Cape Fear River. BHI sunsets are truly breathtaking.

So many happy memories were made during our trip. Nothing is better than seeing our kiddos' joy and it was certainly found in abundance on our island getaway to Bald Head!
